Does The Atkins Diet Cause Heart Problems Or Not

Can Atkins style diets cause potential health problems? Women especially can potentially raise their risk of heart problems by following a high protein and low carbohydrate diet. A recent study suggests that women following this type of diet could raise their chances of a stroke by nearly 28%\

These types of diets are commonly used to control weight issues and although any short term benefits have not been proven, some of the long term effects seem problematic. The study was conducted with 43,000 swedish women between the ages of 30 and 49. The consensus is that in order to really change your body weight and become more healthy, a person should do regular exercise and cut back on calorie intake.

Expert, Samantha Heller, an exercise physiologist and clinical nutrition coordinator at the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Conn., said "the results of this study are not surprising."

These things take time and although nobody is blaming the atkins diet for heart related problems, all information is worth considering and pondering
